Pineapple Diva ^_^

Pineapple has been one of my favorite fruits, and I’ll never get tired eating it.Back home, we have a variety of pineapples. We have different sizes and kinds, like pineapple with seeds, and tiny orange colored ones but succulently sweet. I and my siblings used to eat like 2 to 3 medium sized pineapples in a day especially on summer time, and the weird thing we do is that, we dipped it on salt to make it sweeter. I don’t really know why it’s like that, but trust me, just give it a try, and you’ll see what I’m talking about. But, the most unforgettable experienced I have with this juicy tropical fruit, is the way my father peeled it. I was in grade school when my father showed me on how to “properly” peeled a pineapple, and my oh my, I was so amazed. Here’s a before and after photo of a pineapple, which I peeled by myself according to my father’s way of doing it. Enjoy

"Tease me, tease me baby! Till I lose control, tease me with your lovin till I lose control take all my body and soul" LOL! What a lyrics!I have love this song since I was in high school, and now I'm 29, and I'm loving it more. It is light, funny, and down right playful. So get up, sway those voluptuous hips, and just get carried away with the soulful teasing of Chaka Demus's relaxing and smooth beat of Tease Me. Enjoy .

Artist: Chaka Demus and Pliers
Song: Tease Me

"Tease Me"

She's floating like a butterfly
So charming
(Baby girl)
She recognise the man in me
(Number one in di world)
There's something in her eyes
Like a spell
Getting me hypnotised, ooh Lord
She give me one smile
Two smile, three smile
She got me going wild
(Worth more than
Diamonds and pearl)
So baby
don't
Change your style
(Sweet honey)
Oh no, no love

Tease me, tease me
Tease me, tease me baby

Till I lose control
Tease me with your love
Until I lose control
Take all my body
And soul, oh girl

Woman your love is like
Burning fire inna me soul,
Woman tease me
Till me lose control,
Woman your love is like
Burning fire inna me soul,
Woman tease me
Till me lose control.

Me gal tease me and
Take a look me fancy
Right from the clock
Until me reach climax
And when me reach me
Will tell you fi stop
Will ya hear fi de sky
And we not turn back.

Brrrrup baff, you make
Me heart tick like a clock
Woman tease me and take
A look me weak spot
Only your touch can make me
Then them talk a
When me nah take back

Woman your love is like
Burning fire inna me soul
Tease me gal
Until me lose control
Woman your love is like
Burning fire inna me soul
Woman tease me
Till me lose control

Suddenly you think
Of all the love
That I was searching for
Holding confidence that
Will never, never fail
Hearing angel voices
Singing love prevail, ooh darling
Come closer to me
And don't bail out
When me sing I'll come

Tease me, tease me
Tease me, tease me baby
Till I lose control
Tease me with your love
Until I lose control
Take all my body
And me soul, oh girl

Tease me, tease me
Tease me, tease me baby
Till I lose control
Tease me with your love
Until I lose control
Take all my body
And me soul, oh girl

Hear me now
I will never forget the
First time we kissed
It's like striking goal,
Catching a big fish
Yes, you are on top
Of my woman's list
Second to none
You defeat the favourite
Woman your love is like
Burning fire inna me soul
Woman tease me
Till me lose control
Woman your love is like
Burning fire inna me soul
Woman tease me
Till me lose control

And even if my mind
Should resist, oh yeah
Tease me, tease me
Tease me, tease me baby
Till I lose control
Tease me with your love
Until I lose control
Take all my body
And me soul, oh girl

Got Water?

Saturday, August 08, 2009 Posted In , , Edit This 2 Comments »
Amidst the issues of global warming which is sadly manipulated by the government, fabricated by the media, and unfortunately ignored by many,Michael Pritchard water purifier invention is something not to be taken lightly because it is something that can surely save our lives, and could save thousands as well. This is one of the coolest inventions of the century that can never go wrong.

All credits to TED.

Too much of the world lacks access to clean drinking water. Engineer Michael Pritchard did something about it -- inventing the portable Lifesaver filter, which can make the most revolting water drinkable in seconds. An amazing demo from TEDGlobal 2009.

Side Note: That's why going back to basics is the key, and basics means:

1. Taking shower with a bucket of water and a small container thing for scooping out the water. Yup, just like the good ol' days, although this could be optional if you think this is unconventional, uncool, and especially if you're so lazy to not even give it a try.

2. Using a glass of water in brushing up your teeth instead of letting the faucet flow freely as if water comes from the river Nile. FYI, even Nile River is getting dry.

3. And for water's sake, don't use the dish washer if you only have a spoon, fork, and a plate to wash,ok? Start using your hands! They're not just for poking your game consoles, applying nail polish, and for hmmm.... something else.....

Song Of The Day

I just discover this artist by accident as I was randomly clicking videos at youtube. I don't understand anything what he's saying except the word "Afraid" which happens to be the title of the song also. I don't know much about the artist either. All I know is that his stage name is St. Day, and he's a Korean singer. Honestly, it wasn't the song that catches my attention first, but the MV. The song just followed, and it seems pretty catchy and decent. The MV is kind of very anime-ish style, and it really reminds me of one of my fave anime Bleach. I can't quite figure out why it reminds me of Bleach, but I guess it's the cool effects, his outfits, and the hairdo,LOL! I'll try to post the lyrics and the translation as soon as I'll get it. For now, happy watching and listening .

Artist: St.Day
Single: Balinese

Vegetarian Spring Rolls (Lumpia)

Thursday, August 06, 2009 Posted In , , , Edit This 6 Comments »

I love spring rolls, and I don't mind at all how long it takes to make it, after all patience is a virtue . Back home we call spring rolls as "Lumpia", and it has variety of fillings. It can be a meaty porky filling, or some tutty fruity ones, usually made up of banana, jack fruit, or a sweet mongo bean paste. Come to think of it, I used to sale lumpia back in grade school, and I almost got suspended coz the teacher in-charge of the canteen reported my sorry a$$ to the principal. DUH! How can a 9 years old could be the downfall of a school canteen? Thanks to her, I learned the basics of capitalism. Sad,sad, sad tragic event for a third grader, but did it stop me from selling other food stuff? HELL NO! Yes, at 9, I was already a guerilla vendor, bwahahaha. Me like more my nickles and dimes than to be completely penniless and have nothing to support my needs, hmmm......buying Gundam stickers and different colors of rubber bands. Amen to that!

Here's a simple vegetarian recipe for a spring roll filling, and a tutorial on how to wrap a spring roll. For first timer rollers (sorry I couldn't find any appropriate terms on this, lol!), don't be intimated on how to start your spring rolls rolling. It doesn't need to be perfectly wrap. Just have some fun, and savor the fruit of your rolling labor .

Ingredients:
Spring Roll Wrapper
2 cups finely chopped cabbage
1 1/2 cups finely shredded carrots
1 cup fresh shredded coconut pulp
Note: Frozen one will do, but if you can't avail either, replace the coconut with mung bean sprouts which you can easily avail at any grocery store.

1/4 cup roasted sesame seeds
2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp minced ginger
1 regular size habanero pepper minced
1 tsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp cooking oil
black pepper
green onions

Procedure:
1. In a hot pan, add the cooking oil and saute the ginger, habanero pepper, and the onion (put the bulb part of the onion first)

2.Add the carrots and stir for a minute, then add the cabbage, salt, sugar, soy sauce and a dash of black pepper. Stir for 2 minutes.

3. Stir in the roasted coconut and sesame seeds for a minute, then mix in the green onion stalks.

4. Let it cool and set aside.

Wrapping Procedure:
1. Let the spring roll wrapper defrost to room temperature.
I use this brand:

2. Cover the spring roll wrapper as well as the finish spring roll with a damp paper towel to keep it moist.

3. Deep fry until golden brown.

4. Follow this tutorial video, and enjoy rolling.

Wrapping and frying tips:
1. Wrap the filling as tight as you can to avoid opening during frying, but don't wrap it too tight, or you'll end up tearing the wrapper.

2. Make sure that the oil is hot, or you'll end up with a soft and oily spring roll rather than crispy.

Atsara ( Filipino Pickled Green Papaya)

Monday, August 03, 2009 Posted In , , , Edit This 3 Comments »

Making atsara in the Philippines (usually in the country side) is like making Kimchi in South Korea. It's a gathering especially for women. All the women in the household sponsoring the atsara event, neighbors, cousins and friends are all present, and are willingly offering their time and help. It's a very lively event because when women gathers, expect one thing, gossiping! LOL!No, don't be offended because whether you agree with me or not, this is a fact, and we women enjoys hanging out with our girlfriends sharing stories. Anyway, so much for my sidetracking. So, yeah it's a gathering, and it's usually done in bulk amounts (like buckets of shredded papaya)and during big occasions like fiestas, and everything is so manual. From shredding the papaya to cutting the ingredients and in making the decorations for the atsara are all laboriously done manually. This is one of the Filipino traditions that I truly miss :( even though my mom usually nags during this times. Hehehe!

It's been years since I had the fortune to eat atsara, and for some weird reasons,I was just craving for it. Since the main ingredient is an elusive tropical green papaya fruit, it took me years to finally have the luck on finding it, until one fine Sunday. I and the hubby took our usual weekend grocery shopping spree at our favorite cheap (yes, I'm a sucker for cheap but good eats lol) whole sale food market, and when I say cheap, I mean it. The friendly hardworking Mexican vendors offers good food with good prices that you just can't refuse, none the less complain. I mean, where can you find fresh plump tomatoes for only a buck per box?! Even Publix can't beat that! Then we went to one of the stalls that we usually frequent, and there it was the green papaya that I was longing for. The green papaya that I was hankering for years was right before my naked eyes, then my mind began to wonder on what gluttonous gastric memories I could make out from it,lol! I was seriously salivating. Since it was a rare item, the vendor somehow had it stamped with a price! The medium size green papaya cost $3 each, and of course it didn't stop me from buying it even if the hubby will give me the "look". I bought two papayas, and at last, my insatiable craving for it will be fulfilled, bwahahaha!!!

Ingredients:

2 medium size green papaya
8 cups shredded green papaya
3 cups shredded carrots
3 cups sliced bell peppers ( optional:used different colors for a lively effect)
3 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups green onions
2 cups raisins
1/2 cup minced ginger
3 cups venigar
3 tsp salt
2 cups sugar
1 tsp black pepper

Procedure:
1. Shred the papaya in a food processor. You can also do this manually, but the food processor makes things better :)

2.Toss 3 tsp of salt in the shredded papaya and let it set for 1 to 2 hours. After 2 hours, rinse the papaya with water and squeez out all the water from it. Set aside.
3. Mix together venigar, sugar, black pepper, green onions, and ginger in a pan and simmer it under low fire until the sugar dissolves.

4. When the sugar dissolves, add in shredded carrots, bell peppers, raisins, and lastly the shredded papaya.

5. Add 3 tsp of salt and simmer it for 2 minutes.
6. Let it cool and store in an air tight containers.

The pickeld green papaya has a longer life shelf if you put it in the fridge. It's really a good condiment for just anything you eat. My personal fave is to eat it with fried rice and pan fried tofu.Gosh, I'm hungry now!

I feel in love with the Korean Drama City Hall ,as well with it's soundtrack. The song is just captivating even though at first I didn't understand the lyrics. For those hopeless romantics like me, check out City Hall, and I can assure you that you'll succumbed into their traps and never look back just like me .

BOORANHAN SARANG
불안한 사랑 (Anxious Love)
Performed by: Horan of Clazziquai 클래지콰이 호란

SONG LYRICS:
Korean - from Naver
Romanization - alodia/lovelykimsunah
English - BON Funsubs

이렇게 좋아도 될까요
ireokhe joahdo dhwelkkayo
Can I really fall in love with you?

왠지 난 불안해요
waenji nan booranhaeyo
Why do I feel so anxious?

한번도 이런적 없어요
hanbeondo ireonjeok eopseoyo
I've never felt this way before.

그대가 특별해요
keudaega teukbyeolhaeyo
You must be special.

사랑이 두렵진 않아요
sarangi dooryeopjin anhayo
I do not fear love,

곧 이별이 온다 해도
kot ibyeori onda haedo
even if separation will come soon.

그러나 이 사랑 싫어요
keureona i sarang sireohyo
However, I do not want this love,

더 갖고 싶으니까
deo katgo shipeunikka
because I will keep on yearning for more.

마음대로 물 흐르듯이
maeumdaero mool heureudeushi
Like water freely flowing in the stream,

내 맘을 맡겨봐요
nae mameul matkyeobwayo
I will entrust my heart to you.

하루가 지나면 하나씩
harooga jinamyeon hanasshik
As each day passes,

버릴께 생기거든요
beoril ke saengkikeodeunyo
I'll find something that needs to be thrown away one at a time.

곁에 두면
kyeote doomyeon
If I have you by my side,

생각 하면
saenggak hamyeon
if I think about you,

사랑 하면
sarang hamyeon
if I love you,

도저히 안될 것 같은 사람
dojeohi andhwel keot kateun saram
you seem like a person that won't stay long.

보낸 다면
bonaen damyeon
If I let you go,

떠난 다면
tteonan damyeon
if I leave you,

그때 더 사랑할 것 같은 사람
keuddae deo saranghal keot kateun saram
you seem like a person that will love me more.

불안한 사랑
booranhan sarang
Anxious love.

그래도 이 사랑이 나는 좋아요
keuraedo i sarangi naneun joahyo
Even so, I like this love.

나 혼자 사랑하고 나 혼자 보내는
na honja saranghago na honja bonaeneun
I love on my own, I let go on my own.

이 뻔한 사랑
i ppeonhan sarang
This true love,

이 토록 간절한 왠지 내게는
i torok kanjeolhan waenji naegeneun
I've waited so earnestly for you, but

어울리지 않는
eooolliji anhneun
we are ill-matched.

못된 사랑
motdwhen sarang
An unfortunate love.

곁에 두면
kyeote doomyeon
If I have you by my side,

생각 하면
saenggak hamyeon
if I think about you,

사랑 하면
sarang hamyeon
if I love you,

도저히 안될 것 같은 사람
dojeohi andhwel keot kateun saram
you seem like a person that won't stay long.

보낸 다면
bonaen damyeon
If I let you go,

떠난 다면
tteonan damyeon
if I leave you,

그때 더 사랑할 것 같은 사람
keuddae deo saranghal keot kateun saram
you seem like a person that will love me more.

불안한 사랑
booranhan sarang
Anxious love.

그래도 이 사랑이 나는 좋아요
keuraedo i sarangi naneun joahyo
Even so, I like this love.

그래서 이 사랑을 나는 붙잡아요
keuraeseo i sarangeul naneun bootjapayo
Therefore, I will hold onto this love.
